Dear Parishioners,
Today the Church celebrates her holy roots, celebrating the apostles Saints Peter and Paul, whose remains are preserved in the two basilicas dedicated to them in Rome. The day's liturgy speaks of Peter's profession of faith regarding Jesus: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Mt 16:16). This declaration is not the fruit of reasoning, but a revelation from the Father to the humble fisherman of Galilee, as Jesus himself confirms when he says: "Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you" (Mt 16:17). Simon Peter is so close to the Lord that he himself becomes a rock of faith and love upon which Jesus has built his Church and, as Saint John Chrysostom observes, "has made it stronger than heaven itself." In fact, the Lord concludes by saying: “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Mt 16:19).
In turn, Saint Paul spread the Gospel with divine grace, sowing the Word of truth and salvation among the pagan peoples. The two patron saints of Rome, although they received from God different charisms and distinct missions to fulfill, are both foundations of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
May the example of the apostles Saints Peter and Paul enlighten the minds and kindle in the hearts of believers the holy desire to fulfill God's will, so that the pilgrim Church on earth may always be faithful to our Lord.

Hoy la Iglesia festeja sus santas raíces, celebrando a los apóstoles san Pedro y san Pablo, cuyos restos se conservan en las dos basílicas dedicadas a ellos en Roma. La liturgia del día habla de la profesión de fe de Pedro respecto de Jesús: “Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios vivo” (Mt 16,16).
Esta declaración no es fruto de un razonamiento, sino una revelación del Padre al humilde pescador de Galilea, como lo confirma Jesús mismo al decir: “No te lo han revelado ni la carne ni la sangre” (Mt 16,17). Simón Pedro está tan cerca del Señor que él mismo se convierte en una roca de fe y de amor sobre la que Jesús ha edificado su Iglesia y, como observa san Juan Crisóstomo, “la ha hecho más fuerte que el cielo mismo.” De hecho, el Señor concluye diciendo: “Lo que ates en la tierra quedará atado en los cielos, y lo que desates en la tierra quedará desatado en los cielos” (Mt 16,19).
A su vez San Pablo difundió el Evangelio con la gracia divina, sembrando la Palabra de verdad y de salvación en medio de los pueblos paganos. Los dos santos patronos de Roma, aun habiendo recibido de Dios carismas diversos y misiones distintas por realizar, ambos son cimientos de la Iglesia una, santa, católica y apostólica.
Que el ejemplo de los apóstoles san Pedro y san Pablo ilumine las mentes y encienda en el corazón de los creyentes el santo deseo de cumplir la voluntad de Dios, para que la Iglesia peregrina en la tierra sea siempre fiel a su Señor.

The Holy See has granted the Denver Cathedral the right to open its doors to hope, as in Rome, to help those unable to attend the pilgrimage to Italy. On July 19, we will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral at 10 am to receive the plenary indulgence offered by the Pope. Let us go together to participate in God's mercy.

We are accepting registrations for
Kindergarten through 11th grade for our
Religious Education Program.
Class Schedule:
Monday — Spanish classes
Thursday — English classes
To register, please complete a registration form, pay the $40 book fee and provide a copy of your child’s baptism certificate, if your child is not baptized, a birth certificate is required.
Parent participation, parents are required to attend parent classes or volunteer in the classrooms part of the program.

St. Augustine Food Pantry
In order to keep the pantry up and running we will have a FOOD DRIVE on the FIRST SUNDAY of EVERY MONTH. The pantry is in dire need of: peanut butter, pasta, cereal, canned fruit and vegetables, canned meats and soups. Monetary donations are also very much needed. Please bring your donations before mass or drop off in the parish office.
