Dear Parishioners,
Today we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus into heaven, which took place forty days after Easter. The liturgy recounts the episode of the last time the Lord Jesus separated from his disciples (cf. Luke 24:50ff; Acts 1:2, 9); but it is not an abandonment, because he remains forever with them and with us in a new way. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux explains that Jesus' Ascension into heaven occurs in three stages: The first is the glory of the resurrection; the second, the power to judge; and the third, sitting at the right hand of the Father.
The Lord draws the gaze of the apostles, which is also our gaze, to heaven to show them how to follow the path of goodness during their earthly life. However, he remains in the fabric of human history, is close to each of us, and guides our Christian journey: he accompanies those persecuted for their faith, he is in the hearts of the marginalized, and he is present in those denied the right to life. We can hear, see, and touch the Lord Jesus in the Church, especially through the word and the sacraments.
Then he led them [out] as far as Bethany, raised his hands,
and blessed them. As he blessed them he parted from them
and was taken up to heaven. They did him homage and then
returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

On this Ascension Day, we ask the Lord to give us the grace to ascend with Him so that we may experience the joy of being children of God.

Hoy se celebra la Ascensión de Jesús al cielo, que tuvo lugar cuarenta días después de la Pascua. En la liturgia se narra el episodio de la última vez que el Señor Jesús se separó de sus discípulos (cf. Lc 24,50s; Hch 1,2.9); pero no se trata de un abandono, porque él permanece para siempre con ellos y con nosotros de una forma nueva. San Bernardo de Claraval explica que la Ascensión de Jesús al cielo se realiza en tres grados: El primero es la gloria de la resurrección; el segundo, el poder de juzgar; y el tercero, sentarse a la derecha del Padre.
El Señor atrae la mirada de los apóstoles nuestra mirada hacia el cielo para indicarles cómo recorrer el camino del bien durante la vida terrena. Sin embargo, él permanece en la trama de la historia humana, está cerca de cada uno de nosotros y guía nuestro camino cristiano: acompaña a los perseguidos a causa de la fe, está en el corazón de los marginados, se halla presente en aquellos a los que se niega el derecho a la vida. Kindergarten through 11th grade for our Religious Education Program.
Class Schedule:
Monday — Spanish classes
Thursday — English classes
To register, please complete a registration form, pay the $40 book fee and provide a copy of your child’s baptism certificate, if your child is not baptized, a birth certificate is required.
Parent participation, parents are required to attend parent classes or volunteer in the classrooms part of the program. Registration forms are available at the Parish Life Center.

ICON WRITING RETREAT & WORKSHOP taught by Margaret Zylla is offered Saturday mornings 9-11 am starting June 14th. There will be 6 sessions lasting 2 hours each.
