Peace be with you all!
Dear brothers and sisters, these are the first words spoken by the risen Christ, the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for God’s flock. I would like this greeting of peace to resound in your hearts, in your families, among all people, wherever they may be, in every nation and throughout the world. Peace be with you!
It is the peace of the risen Christ. A peace that is unarmed and disarming, humble and persevering. A peace that comes from God, the God who loves us all, unconditionally.
We can still hear the faint yet ever courageous voice of Pope Francis as he blessed Rome, the Pope who blessed Rome, who gave his blessing to the world, the whole world, on the morning of Easter. Allow me to extend that same blessing: God loves us, God loves you all, and evil will not prevail! All of us are in God’s hands. So, let us move forward, without fear, together, hand in hand with God and with one another other! We are followers of Christ. Christ goes before us. The world needs his light. Humanity needs him as the bridge that can lead us to God and his love. Help us, one and all, to build bridges through dialogue and encounter, joining together as one people, always at peace. Thank you, Pope Francis!
I also thank my brother Cardinals, who have chosen me to be the Successor of Peter and to walk together with you as a Church, united, ever pursuing peace and justice, ever seeking to act as men and women faithful to Jesus Christ, in order to proclaim the Gospel without fear, to be missionaries.
I am an Augustinian, a son of Saint Augustine, who once said, “With you I am a Christian, and for you I am a bishop.” In this sense, all of us can journey together toward the homeland that God has prepared for us.
A special greeting to the Church of Rome! Together, we must look for ways to be a missionary Church, a Church that builds bridges and encourages dialogue, a Church ever open to welcoming, like this Square with its open arms, all those who are in need of our charity, our presence, our readiness to dialogue and our love.
And if you also allow me a brief word, a greeting to everyone and in particular to my beloved Diocese of Chiclayo, in Peru, where a faithful people has accompanied its Bishop, shared its faith and given so much, so much, to continue being a faithful Church of Jesus Christ.
To all of you, brothers and sisters in Rome, in Italy, throughout the world: we want to be a synodal Church, a Church that moves forward, a Church that always seeks peace, that always seeks charity, that always seeks to be close above all to those who are suffering.
Today is the day of the Prayer of Supplication to Our Lady of Pompeii. Our Mother Mary always wants to walk at our side, to remain close to us, to help us with her intercession and her love. So I would like to pray together with you. Let us pray together for this new mission, for the whole Church, for peace in the world, and let us ask Mary, our Mother, for this special grace:

La paz esté con todos ustedes!
Queridos hermanos y hermanas, este es el primer saludo de Cristo resucitado, el Buen Pastor, que ha dado la vida por la grey de Dios. También yo quisiera que este saludo de paz entre en sus corazones, llegue a sus familias, a todas las personas, dondequiera que estén, a todos los pueblos, a toda la tierra. ¡La paz esté con ustedes!
Esta es la paz de Cristo resucitado, una paz desarmada y una paz desarmante, humilde y perseverante. Proviene de Dios, Dios que nos ama a todos incondicionalmente.
Aún conservamos en nuestros oídos la voz débil pero siempre valiente del Papa Francisco que bendecía Roma, el Papa mientras bendecía Roma daba su bendición al mundo, al mundo entero, esa mañana del día de Pascua. Permítanme continuar esa misma bendición: Dios nos quiere, Dios los ama a todos, y el mal no prevalecerá. Estamos todos en las manos de Dios. Por lo tanto, sin miedo, unidos, tomados de la mano con Dios y entre nosotros sigamos adelante. Somos discípulos de Cristo. Cristo nos precede. El mundo necesita su luz. La humanidad lo necesita como puente para ser alcanzada por Dios y por su amor. Ayúdennos también ustedes, luego ayúdense unos a otros a construir puentes, con el diálogo, con el encuentro, uniéndonos todos para ser un solo pueblo siempre en paz. ¡Gracias al Papa Francisco!
Quiero agradecer también a todos los hermanos cardenales que me han elegido para ser Sucesor de Pedro y caminar junto con ustedes, como Iglesia unida buscando siempre la paz, la justicia, procurando siempre trabajar como hombres y mujeres fieles a Jesucristo, sin miedo, para proclamar el Evangelio, para ser misioneros.
Soy agustino, un hijo de san Agustín, que ha dicho: “Con ustedes soy cristiano y para ustedes, obispo”. En este sentido podemos caminar todos juntos hacia esa patria que Dios nos ha preparado.
Un saludo especial a la Iglesia de Roma. Debemos buscar juntos cómo ser una Iglesia misionera, una Iglesia que construye puentes dialogando, siempre abierta —como esta plaza— a recibir con los brazos abiertos a todos, a todos aquellos que necesitan nuestra caridad, nuestra presencia, diálogo y amor.
Y si me permiten también una palabra, un saludo a todos y en modo particular a mi querida diócesis de Chiclayo, en el Perú, donde un pueblo fiel ha acompañado a su obispo, ha compartido su fe y ha dado tanto, tanto, para seguir siendo Iglesia fiel de Jesucristo.
A todos ustedes, hermanos y hermanas de Roma, de Italia, de todo el mundo: queremos ser una Iglesia sinodal, una Iglesia que camina, una Iglesia que busca siempre la paz, que busca siempre la caridad, que busca siempre estar cerca especialmente de aquellos que sufren.
Hoy es el día de la Súplica a la Virgen de Pompeya. Nuestra Madre María siempre quiere caminar con nosotros, estar cerca, ayudarnos con su intercesión y su amor. Quisiera, pues, rezar junto con ustedes. Recemos juntos por esta nueva misión, por toda la Iglesia, por la paz en el mundo y pidamos esta gracia especial a María, nuestra Madre:

Let us keep Daniel in prayer. This young man from our parish felt a strong calling after high school, spent a year in mission before seriously discerning the priesthood and seminary.
May the Lord who has planted this seed within him guide his path and bring His divine will to fruition in Daniel's life.

Adams County Jail in Brighton. Support would be in teams of two, witnessing to Christ, in weekly one-hour sessions, praying with them, studying scripture and our Catholic faith. To register, please complete a registration form, pay the $40 book fee and provide a copy of your child’s baptism certificate, if your child is not baptized, a birth certificate is required.
Parent participation, parents are required to attend parent classes or volunteer in the classrooms part of the program.Registration forms are available at the Parish Life Center.
